Terms of Sale
To ensure clarity and a smooth process, please read the following Terms of Sale carefully.
By placing an order, paying a deposit, issuing a Purchase Order, or otherwise confirming an order, you agree to these Terms.

1. General Conditions
1.1 These Terms apply to all purchases of Goods supplied by Objects For Thought Pty Ltd (“Objects For Thought”, “we”, “us”, “our”) to any Purchaser (“you”, “your”).
1.2 By paying any amount, issuing a Purchase Order, or otherwise confirming an order in writing, the Purchaser acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Sale.
1.3 All orders are conditional upon acceptance of these Terms.
1.4 These Terms supersede all previous verbal or written communication unless expressly amended in writing by us.
1.5 We may update these Terms from time to time; changes will not affect already confirmed orders.
1.6 We may decline or cancel an order at any time, in which case any payments received will be refunded.
2. Product Specifications
2.1 All Goods are handcrafted, and variations in colour, finish, tone, texture, and form are inherent characteristics of the materials and processes used. Such variations are not considered defects.
2.2 Non-standard specifications—including finishes, dimensions, electrical requirements, or modifications—must be clearly detailed at the time of order. Additional costs and extended lead times may apply.
2.3 It is the Purchaser’s responsibility to confirm the suitability of the Goods for the intended application, including dimensions, scale, electrical compatibility, and access to the installation site.
2.4 We accept no responsibility for miscalculations relating to spatial constraints (including doorways, stairways, lifts, ceiling heights, or access routes).
2.5 Images, drawings, samples, and specifications are provided as a guide only and may differ slightly from the final Goods.
2.6 We may update or refine design details or components if required to maintain product quality or continuity.
3. Order Confirmation
3.1 An order is confirmed upon receipt of a deposit or Purchase Order.
3.2 We will issue an Order Confirmation detailing the agreed specifications.
3.3 Production generally begins shortly after confirmation; design changes may not be possible once production has commenced.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Standard payment terms:
Full payment required prior to the commencement of production.
At our discretion we may accept a 50% deposit which is required within 7 days of the invoice date;
With the remaining 50% balance payable in full prior to dispatch.
4.2 Deposits are non-refundable, including where Purchasers change their mind or withdraw from the project.
4.3 Title to the Goods remains with Objects For Thought until payment is received in full.
4.4 Late payments attract a 2% monthly fee calculated on the outstanding balance.
4.5 Storage fees apply where dispatch is delayed for Purchaser-related reasons:
1.5% of order value per month, or
$125 per week,
whichever is greater.
5. Lead Times
5.1 Estimated lead times are provided at order confirmation and are based on current production capacity.
5.2 Lead times commence once all approvals and the required deposit have been received.
5.3 Lead times are estimates only. Variations due to material supply, production volume, freight conditions, or seasonal factors (e.g., Christmas Closure period) may occur.
5.4 Delivery delays do not constitute a breach of contract and do not entitle compensation.
5.5 We will make reasonable efforts to communicate any significant changes to lead times.
6. Amendments & Cancellations
6.1 Amendment requests must be made in writing. Changes may affect pricing and timelines.
6.2 Once production has commenced, amendments may not be possible.
6.3 Cancellation fees may apply based on work already completed.
6.4 Custom orders cannot be cancelled once fabrication has begun.
7. Delivery, Inspection & Risk
7.1 Delivery is arranged once full payment is received (unless under approved credit terms).
7.2 Delivery windows cannot be guaranteed; delays do not constitute breach of contract.
7.3 Risk in the Goods transfers to the Purchaser upon delivery or collection.
7.4 International Purchasers are responsible for all duties, taxes, and customs clearance.
Inspection Requirements
7.5 Goods must be inspected immediately upon receipt.
7.6 Any transit damage must be reported within 24 hours, with photographic evidence and all packaging retained.
7.7 Missing or incorrect items must be reported within 14 days of delivery.
7.8 Claims lodged outside these periods may not be accepted.
Delivery Conditions
7.9 Deliveries require a person present to sign; any signatory at the address is considered authorised.
7.10 Redelivery charges due to missed delivery attempts or access issues will be passed on to the Purchaser.
7.11 Studio pickup is available by appointment.
8. Material Variation
8.1 Natural materials and hand finishing processes create unique variations; these form part of the character of the Goods.
8.2 Surface finishes (especially unlacquered metals) may naturally patinate over time.
8.3 Variations between samples, prototypes, renders, digital swatches, and the finished product are expected and not grounds for return.
9. Returns & Exchanges
9.1 Goods are made to order and cannot be returned or exchanged due to change of mind or artistic variation.
9.2 For Consumers, statutory rights apply where Goods are faulty, unsafe, or not as described.
9.3 Returned Goods (where authorised) must be in unused condition and in original packaging.
10. Electrical Compliance
10.1 Orders are supplied wired to regional specific electrical standards.
10.2 Standard lighting is supplied with CE, SAA & UCKA certifications
10.2 For regions outside of Australia and Europe the Purchaser is responsible for arranging certification if required.
10.3 We make no guarantee regarding international electrical compliance.
11. Installation, Use & Maintenance
11.1 Some onsite assembly may be required.
11.2 Installation is not included unless explicitly stated.
11.3 Installation must be carried out by a licensed professional.
11.4 We are not responsible for:
damage caused during or due to installation;
incorrect cleaning methods;
incorrect bulb selection;
operation in unsuitable environments;
modification or alteration of Goods;
installation, removal, or reinstallation costs.
12. Purchaser Responsibilities & Legal Compliance
12.1 The Purchaser must ensure the Goods are installed in accordance with all building codes, electrical regulations, and local laws.
12.2 These Terms operate alongside, and do not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
13. Liability
13.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, Objects For Thought is not liable for:
indirect, consequential, or special loss;
loss of profit, opportunity, or data;
project delays, penalties, or missed deadlines;
courier or freight handling;
costs associated with installation, removal, or reinstallation.
13.2 Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one of the following at our discretion:
a) repair of the Goods;
b) replacement with equivalent Goods; or
c) refund of the purchase price.
14. Intellectual Property
All concepts, designs, drawings, materials, related specifications and developed intellectual property remain the intellectual property of Objects For Thought and may not be reproduced, adapted, or communicated without our written consent.
15. Quotations
15.1 Quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
15.2 Pricing applies only to the items listed; freight, installation, and additional components are separate unless specified.
15.3 Any variation in quantity, specification, or delivery instructions may require a revised quotation.
15.4 Written quotations override all prior correspondence.
15.5 GST is not charged on orders shipped outside Australia.
16. Warranty Coverage
16.1 Objects For Thought warrants its products against defects in materials and workmanship for 24 months from delivery.
16.2 Warranty Exclusions, this warranty does not cover:
consumables such as lamps unless faulty on arrival;
natural variations or patina development;
cosmetic imperfections not caused by a manufacturing defect;
damage arising from incorrect installation, misuse, unsuitable bulbs, or improper cleaning;
exposure to moisture, corrosion, or extreme environments;
unauthorised repairs or modifications;
misuse, accidents, or negligence.
16.3 Warranty Remedies
At our discretion, we will either:
a) repair the product;
b) replace it with an identical or comparable item; or
c) refund the purchase price.
17. Making a Claim
Email sales@of-t.com with:
proof of purchase;
a description of the issue;
photographs or video showing the defect.
Claims must be made within a reasonable period after the issue is identified.
18. Consumer Rights
This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
